To ensure preparedness of community volunteers (CVs) for disasters, Educo Philippines recently conducted a two-day Child-centered Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Training last July 16 to 17, 2024 at E-Crown Hotel and Resorts in Virac, Catanduanes. This activity was attended by a total of 49 CVs coming from 30 communities covered by the SAFE II program of Educo Philippines in the said municipality.

The training aimed to enhance the knowledge of Educo CVs on Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) and related ideas. Staff members and trainers from Philippine Red Cross Catanduanes Chapter (PRCCC) facilitated the said training and comprehensively discussed the DRRM concepts to the attendees, including Child-centered DRRM and climate change. They utilized audience-appropriate materials and resources to thoroughly instruct different audience segments on these topics.

This initiative is designed to better equip the participants to help execute the SAFE II program and strengthen community resilience to disasters.

Along with the goals of the said facilitators, this training is anchored to one of the commitments of Educo PH in preparing their volunteers for any hazardous events or calamities that they could face while serving their communities.
