As Typhoon Pepito (international name: Man-Yi) approaches the Philippines, Educo has activated its Emergency Response Team days before the said natural hazard land falls on the country, an announcement made by the organization’s Humanitarian Action sector.

This means that immediate Rapid Assessment shall be made to ensure that intervention areas of the organization are well monitored by being in constant communication with the local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Offices (DRRMOs) for preposition movements.

In the areas where Educo Philippines work, land travel from Bicol to Manila, water vessel/watercraft plying the route within the areas of responsibility of Albay, Camarines provinces, Sorsogon, and Catanduanes are now suspended. Preemptive evacuation is also activated especially in high-risk areas following the hoisting of Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) 1.

On the other hand, Local Government Agencies concerned are setting, too, disaster preparedness measures and efforts in preparation for the possible impacts of Typhoon Pepito.

As Educo Philippines meticulously prepares, we encourage also residents in areas that will be affected by the typhoon to do the same intense preparation. As we say in our organization, “batang preparado, protektado!” (a prepared child is protected).
